He was a great instructor, very knowledgeable, and to this day when I see him, he still teaches me new things. It's great to have a "teacher" and a wonderful way to pass our heritage along to the next generation.Marc - Founder and Editor of NYbowhunter.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14176934875023661032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2416218016929475968.post-33973553586199069262007-10-03T18:45:00.000-07:002007-10-03T18:45:00.000-07:00you need to plan on coming down and spending a wee...you need to plan on coming down and spending a weekend at camp with me this fall. don't give up
hunting.Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06928325559485542272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2416218016929475968.post-61626219144174728542007-10-01T19:32:00.000-07:002007-10-01T19:32:00.000-07:00Hi Kristine; been a while glad you stopped by. Yes...Hi Kristine; been a while glad you stopped by. Yes Hunter Safety Students get alot of hours of training before they are certified as our heritage hunters. Here in Tennessee they train for 3-4 classes which includes a firearms test before passing. It's always intregued me just how much training they really get and is probably the reason for my wanting to become a training officer for our young hunters. I just don't know if I have enough knowledge for the position or the qualifacations but I will check into all of it as I get the time before next years hunting gets started.deerslayerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00280092809884128793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2416218016929475968.post-22404722134993956432007-10-01T07:25:00.000-07:002007-10-01T07:25:00.000-07:00Becoming a Hunter Safety Instructor is a great ide...Becoming a Hunter Safety Instructor is a great idea. I did a post about Hunter Safety Instructors on the GSI blog on Friday. I didn't realize how much time and effort goes into training new hunters. It's all volunteer time as well.

I think becoming an instructor is a great way to ensure the heritage goes forward and that new hunters are safe.Kristinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01790311198949624863noreply@blogger.com
